Although the National Guard was officially established as English colonial government militias in 1636, its roots can be traced back to 1565 when settlers in St. Augustine, FL, formed the first militia on what is now U. S. soil. Over time, state militias came to be called the National Guard. Today, the National Guard serves in times of state emergency such as hurricanes and floods and serves overseas in defense of our country. This National Guard Seal Sticker can be used for special events or my former and current National Guard members to show pride in their branch.
