The US Navy Flag is distinctly recognized by its dark blue background and a bright yellow ribbon underlying the emblem. The emblem depicts an early naval ship on the sea with an anchor and a bald eagle in mid flight. The seal itself was introduced in 1951 and was later adopted to the flag in 1953.
