Pug Magnet

Pugs originated in China and were so favored by the Chinese Royals that they were even given body guards! They eventually made their way to Europe, where, in the Netherlands, a Pug named Pompey alerted the Prince of Orange about assassins, thus saving his life. Queen Victoria of England is known to have bred her own Pugs, and she passed her love for them on to her grandson, King George V. In 1886, Lady Brassy of Britain made Black Pugs popular when she brought back one of her own from China. When pugs made their way to America, they quickly became popular as pets and as show dogs. Their temperament is described as “multum in parvo,” or “much in little.” In other words, these small dogs have big personalities! They rarely aggressive and love to please their owners.
